It is very important that each person pays close attention to where their partner prefers to be kissed so that they may please them and not cause any distress. Once they are aware of where to kiss, they can then begin practicing the different types of kisses. The varying kisses are broken down into different categories, depending on how they are done and with whom. The first set is designed for young women, as they are gentler and more delicate than some of the other forms described later on.

The Nominal Kiss

The most innocent form of kissing, the Nominal kiss occurs when a woman touches her lips against the lips of her partner but does nothing else besides that.

The Throbbing Kiss

Deepening the Nominal Kiss, the Throbbing Kiss occurs when a woman places her lips gently against the lips of her partner and then moves her bottom lip while keeping her upper one still.

The Touching Kiss

The final kiss described for young women is the Touching Kiss. Here, the woman will take her tongue and touch it against her partner’s lip. She should also reach down and grasp his hands within her while her eyes are softly closed.

The next set of kisses is based mostly around head placement and are the typical positions many of us already engage in while kissing. They are:

The Straight Kiss

When face to face, straight on with our partner, this is the kiss that occurs when both people bring their lips together.

The Bent Kiss

For the Bent Kiss, each person should bend their head to the opposite side before bringing their lips together.

The Turned Kiss

Often done by a man to a woman, the Turned Kiss occurs when one partner takes the other by the chin and tilts their head up towards them in order to meet for a kiss.

The Pressed Kiss

The only one that does not involve head placement, the Pressed Kiss is simply when there is more force used while pressing the lower lip against the lips of the partner.

The Gently Pressed Kiss

This is not a kiss on its own, but a variation on the Pressed Kiss. While the lips are pressed together, the partners should then bring their fingertips and cheeks together and continue to kiss softly so as to refrain from the teeth ever meeting.

An additional eight kisses are listed within the Kama Sutra, each defined as a special type of kiss. These are related to a certain situation more so than being defined by the way in which lovers kiss. The special kisses are:

Kiss of the Upper Lip

The first two are slightly different than the rest, as they still fall under ways to kiss regardless of the situation. The Kiss of the Upper Lip involves the man kissing the woman’s upper lip while she kisses his lower lip.
